Bal Gangadhar Tilak by Sachin Sinhal

“Independence (home-rule) is our birthright and I will have it”, the slogan that reverberated during the earlier phases of our freedom struggle was given by Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. He was born on 23rd of July , 1856 in Ratnagiri, a place famous for it mangoes in Maharashtra. His father , Gangadhar Rao, was a learned scholar of Sanskrit and grammar . He was also the principal of a Marathi school in Ratnagiri.
