This is a meeting place in a shared territory, that of the transmitted word that breaks the silence and transforms the world. The testimony, the memory, the demand for justice are rooted in the shifting terrain of the terror policies applied in Mexico and Central America. From an ethical and political dimension, the texts included in this volume review the testimonial genre in the voice of the witnesses, in the literary and journalistic narrative, in the visual and performing arts, in the name of the victims – immigrants, indigenous, women, guerrillas, dissidents of abusive practices of power – looking for a place where oblivion does not inhabit. The intimate memory, the denunciation and the hope sneak in to remind us that violence, yesterday and today, has no place in this house built with words.
