Latin America and the Caribbean in the World Economy 2001-2002
This publication examines international conditions and external trade trends in Latin America and the Caribbean. It also describes the main trends in the international economy and their impact on the economies of the region looking at the international trade activity of the different countries for 2001 and the initial quarters of 2002. The book goes on to analyze trends in the quest for regional integration in Latin America and the Caribbean for the same timeframe presenting several proposals in connection with macroeconomic policy coordination in the various subregional schemes. Finally, it looks at the issues currently under discussion in the new round of multilateral trade negotiations within the World Trade Organization (WTO), from the perspective of the region’s countries.
